Bergenfield Public Library
The Bergenfield Public Library is looking for a creative part-time library assistant to work in our busy Youth Services Department. This individual should be friendly, flexible and, most importantly, love working with young children and their caregivers as well as teens.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Handles all functions associated with both Children’s and Teen Desks including answering patrons’ questions and identifying, locating and recommending age-appropriate materials
- Assist staff with preparing for library programs
- Performs collection maintenance as needed
The successful candidate must possess demonstrated commitment to the provision of outstanding customer service. We are looking for someone who has the ability to relate well to and work harmoniously with staff, patrons and other members of the community. Strong computer skills required, along with a sense of humor. Library and/or retail experience is preferred, but we will train the right individual. Those who speak multiple languages are strongly encouraged to apply.
The position is for at least 2 Sundays a month (12:30pm-5pm) at the Sunday rate of $23.24/hr. with the potential for additional shifts. Weekday hourly rate is $15.49/hr.
